One Year On - Amarillo IPA
I found another beer that had been lurking at the back of my collection of bottles on top of the fridge. This one was an Amarillo IPA that I'd bottled in December 2013.
I cracked it one year on. The swingtop sounded like a bomb going off. It was very lively, pouring with a full, foamy head, lacing all the way down.
The level of malt flavour was outrageous for an IPA. From my notes Munich malt represented only 10% of the grain bill, but it was the dominant flavour. I certainly wouldn't call this beer an IPA one year on – it tasted more like a dunkel, without hte lagering. Very filling, slightly alcoholic, and very brown.
